Enjoy the great outdoors in Chertsey

With a new development in Chertsey, Bridge House, 39 one and two-bedroom apartments close to the banks of the Thames, we’ve taken a look at all the great outdoor activities the area has to offer.

Chertsey Meads Marine Boatyard

Hire a boat and explore riverside sites such as Windsor Castle and Garrick’s Temple in Hampton village. Prices start at £25 per hour for a four-person motor boat.

Big Hat Bushcamp

Offering bushcraft experiences in a secluded woodland spot, campers of all ages are invited to ‘go native’ and learn traditional survival skills, trying their hand at archery, baking bread, orienteering, foraging, wilderness first-aid and much more.  Prices start at £6 per hour for half day courses to £25 for a stayover.

St Ann’s Hill nature trail

Taking around 45 minutes to complete, the nature trail reaches the second highest point in Runnymede, offering wonderful views over the surrounding countryside and the site of an ancient fort.

The Great Cockcrow Railway

The Great Cockcrow is a miniature railway where you can catch a glimpse of wild animals and enjoy the views at Cockcrow Hill. Family tickets are available from £12.

6th Gear Experience

Test drive an Aston Martin Vantage or Lamborghini Aventador at Longcross Proving Ground from around £80. Longcross is McLaren’s ground of choice with the F1 team using the circuit for their own testing. Available for the public to drive on through 6th Gear, it is akin to a mini Nürburgring with hills, long fast straights and sweeping bends through a forest backdrop.

Thorpe Park

Ride rollercoasters such the Nemesis Inferno and Saw the ride and enjoy the other many attractions this theme park has to offer. Day tickets cost £27.99.

JB Waterski

One of the UK’s leading wakeboard and watersports resorts. Catering for beginner and advance water skiers and wakeboarders, the resort offers a great day out for everyone. They offer annual membership from £310 for reduced price sessions.

Liquid Leisure

This watersports centre is set on one of the most beautiful private freshwater lakes amongst stunning parkland and is home to Europe’s largest aquapark. The aqua park costs £15 for 50 minutes with wakeboarding from £30 for an hour.

Fishing at Beomonds Lake

Operated by Runnymede Angling Association, Beomonds Lake just north of Chertsey offers pike and carp angling. A season ticket costs £25 or you can pay £5 for a day ticket.

Cycling

The Kingston to Windsor Thames Path Cycle Route is a 22 mile stretch mostly along the river that takes around two hours to complete.

On our way to Zodiac is another popular route and takes you around Windsor Great Park to Datchet, past Liquid Leisure and Sunnymeads, down to Wraybury and back to Chertsey via Thorpe. The route is as scenic as they come passing nature and water.
